Kathleen Kuhn is an actress, writer and director. Growing up a ballet dancer, her passion for acting and storytelling became what moves her as she explores the human experience and her own sensitivity, depth, curiosity and humor. Her short film- HOUSE HUNT: TOPANGA CANYON- written and directed by Kuhn, was recognized in a number of film fests including Best Comedy in the LA Indies fest, Semi-Finalist in the Fade-in Awards Comedy Competition, and she was Finalist in the Austin Comedy Film Fest for Best Acting Performance as well as Best Picture. Ms. Kuhn has continued her work with on-camera coach Bob Krakower, as well as the Soho Shakespeare Company. She’s honored to have acted in 9 and directed 3 Cafe Plays at The Ruskin Theatre in Santa Monica, which continues to be a source of inspiration. She’s currently set to direct a piece for a new Theatre company in Silverlake- TRF or the Temporal Refugees coming this March.
She loves nature and an eco-conscious lifestyle, is a major francophile and used to teach the language in NYC, and practices Pranic Healing as well.
Half Texan, half Coloradan, she’s also lived in France, Germany and Portugal. Kathleen grew up training as a ballet dancer, through her education at the University of CO in Boulder. She got the “theatre bug” while playing Abigail Williams in Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” in Columbine High School’s 2001 production. She embarked on her career in film in Boulder via assisting documentary filmmaker Sandy McLeod on SEEDS OF TIME. Compelled to pursue the narrative story, she moved to NY on three days notice with a one-way ticket and suitcase to start on her first feature film and never left (till now).
She has trained with some incredible teachers and peers at T. Schreiber and Stella Adler studios, Bob Krakower for on camera, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Caymicheal Patton Studios, and Soho Shakespeare Company. She greatly appreciates the work of Karen Braga and Carol Reynolds for Alexander Technique and Body Dynamics (respectively) for the actor. She was fortunate enough to be directed by Terry Schreiber in his Spring 2015 Tennessee Williams production.
Film credits include TINDER PEOPLE, STAR PEOPLE, WINFIELD HISTORICAL TIMES AND OTHER ODDITIES, comedic web series TRAGIC RELIEF and the pilot ENTER THE BOX. She is currently focusing on her feature film LA FOULE, and series THE VENUS. Commericial credits include ADORE ME (TV), URBANSITTER LLC.'s print and internet campaign this year, and WISE APPLE lunchables (internet & TV), and NIVEA lotion (print). Her work with Take 3 Talent in NY has allowed her to branch into the world of Voiceover as well.
She loves to travel too and if it’s eco-consciously all the better… She can teach you French and likes coffee shop talk about French cinema, as well as writing children’s books that have subliminal lessons about cycles of the female psyche. Kathleen is good at helping her friends embrace their “wildish nature” by navigating this era of new age, feminist self-help in order to find their inner guide, live in their truth, and spare them from years of bad dates and hard lessons-learned. In past years she has been... less good at taking her own advice... but, hey, at least she's got stories #Venusliving! Stay tuned for more information on the Venus project!
